NRCA leadership seized these opportunities and identified three key goals for 2020:
1. Further refine proactive, transparent business practices
- Enlist the professional management of the organization with B.T.F. Enterprises.
- Institute financial procedures befitting a professional organization.
- Create an accurate and efficient tracking protocol for members.
- Develop and embrace a proactive, long-range plan for development, stability, and succession for NRCA and JARC leadership.
- Propose changes in NRCA by-laws to reflect organizational and professional transitions already in place
2. Establish an on-going relationship with an outstanding professional publisher, Springer Publishing, https://www.springerpub.com/, for the Journal of Applied Rehabilitation Counseling.
- Conversion of all (yes, all!) issues of JARC, since its inception in 1966, to electronic format.
- Development of metrics, such as impact factors, for all articles published in JARC, 1966 through the present. While this process will take time, the framework is being put into place to develop this data. While we regret that we cannot provide specific journal metrics at this time, that process has started!
- Develop relationships with allied organizations to enhance the resources available to members. For more information, refer to Springer Publishing https://www.editorialmanager.com/jarc
3. Enhance strategies and opportunities for NRCA members to flourish in their work as rehabilitation counselors and rehabilitationists.
- Establish and maintain the NRCA website, www.rehabcounseling.org
- Develop www.rehabcounseling.org as an essential resource to students, practitioners, researchers, and professionals. Practitioners and researchers who embrace a strengths-based, goal-oriented and collaborative approach in their work are welcome to share their ideas and scholarship. We are committed to facilitating active exploration and dialogue among practitioners at all levels of academic training.
- Expand members’ understanding of best practice beyond national boundaries, through webinars, blogs, and crowdsourcing of best practice research and practice literature.
